Porn Valley- I had been told a long time ago that the very name KSEX was a turnoff to sponsors.

But that didn't change the fact that owner Jon Belinkie told ex-program director Lorrainiac [she resigned a couple of weeks ago] that a monkey could do her job.

Belinkie had been cautioned that if he lost Lorrainiac and Soxxx, he wouldn't have a business. Lorrainiac's departure pretty much sealed the fate of the station.

Another thing that was perhaps KSEX's undoing was the system of Catch e-mail where Belinie saw all the sales correspondence. Every time VP Joe Brandi [he left the station right before Christmas] would have a new relationship going with a sponsor, Belinkie would try to jump in and take over.

In a situation with Girls Gone Wild, an account which Brandi brought to the table, Belinkie wrote the compnay an e-mail introducing himself, stating that Brandi was no longer with the company and that he'd love to continue doing business with them.

Belinkie got a reply from Girls Gone Wild which stated, "Hi, John, thank you very much. Merry Christmas. Please pull all our ads in January."

On another occasion, Mark from SexDate Network was apparently sent a "forged" contract. His signature was affixed to a contract that said he was advertising until November, 2008. Mark claimed he never signed the contract. And Belinkie always swore that there must have been a mistake involved and that he would straighten it out. KSEX wound up losing that advertiser.

Pink Visual, a paid sponsor until December 31st of this past year, sent Belinkie an e-mail telling him they didn't want to continue advertising at the current rate but if he had a smaller package they might be interested. In turn, Belinkie, in a huff, told Brandi to yank all the company's ads, regardless of the fact that they were entitled to ads until the end of the year.

There was also a pending deal with UFC that would have girls bringing fighters into the ring, the girls wearing KSEX T-shirts. A fact you couldn't discount considering the pay-per-view and DVD business exposure.

Belinkie again intruded on the deal and subsequently got in a fight with the owner of UFC. Belinkie essentially told the owner to go fuck himself and sent him a picture of his asshole. The owner relayed the fact that he would kill Belinkie. From that point the deal was off and perhaps was the beginning of the end for KSEX.

Belinkie had also been telling people that KSEX was worth $1.3 million although KSEX was losing something like $20,000 a month.

One time Brandi had a conversation with Belinkie who was talking to him on a speaker phone. Belinkie was driving. His wife was in the car. Belinkie's wife began screaming at Brandi who cautioned her not to speak to him like that.

Brandi then advised her that every time her husband opened his mouth that she ought to slap him in the back of the head because he had no idea of what he was doing with the running of KSEX.

"You hate this business don't you?" Brandi asked her. She goes, "Yeah, I can't stand this business. I hate everybody in it." Then she began defending her husband's business creds. She was told this may be so when it comes to insurance but that he didn't know anything about the adult business and that he was blowing business deals left and right.

How can you lose money you never had? Good riddance.

A good commodities speculator can do wonders with implied money...Lou Pai did it for ten years, and owns half of Colorado as a result. The only catch is that Big E knew how to string along the losses until Andy Fastow could headfake Merrill into another loan.

KSEX had business wizards Wankus & Powder, who basically ran an "all-cash" business---cash in, drugs out. Sportswami ran more of an "accrual-basis" business: when you kidnap and murder Kiki Daire, the murder isn't realized as such until the body is discovered.

so what are the chances that KSEX will finally close its doors and fade into permanent obscurity. (as if they not there now)

Most radio stations book sales weeks and months in advance. You can place a "buy" in January that won't run until July but will go on the books immediately. Orders stop & start and cancel on a regular basis. But you're supposed to take the cancellation off the books as fast as you put it on. Apparently they were a little slow on their cancellations.

You're talking about real radio stations that people actually listen to. We're talking about KSEX.

KSEX Halts Internet Broadcasting Indefinitely

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Internet-based radio and TV station KSEX closed its doors Monday, possibly for good.

According to owner Jon Belinkie, the station struggled financially over the past 22 months.

"I believe KSEX had been hurting monetarily since the death of its founder, Mike Rick, which was long before my involvement," Belinkie told AVN Online. "The constant battles with staff, on-air personalities and slow- to non-paying sponsors and advertisers hemorrhaged enough money to cripple the station, and I'm done."

A deal for Vavoom Media Group to acquire KSEX fell apart on the eve of finalization, and the station's partnership with Rude.com proved volatile after Rude's $20,000 giveaway on KSEX in December 2007 collapsed into chaos.

"There have been a number of strategic partnerships discussed over recent months with a variety or players - both individual and corporate - to keep KSEX alive, but timing is of the essence," Belinkie said.

Belinkie said offers to buy KSEX are being entertained, but the sum of the station's parts may be worth more than the whole.

"I continue to believe KSEX is a tremendous business opportunity due to its unique industry niche position," he said, "but the reality exists that KSEX might be carved up and sold off."

Dan Leal, aka Porno Dan, formerly KSEX's sales director and a show host, agreed.

"Unfortunately, between the potential sale of the domain names, say with Moniker, and the distribution of content, et cetera, KSEX is probably worth a lot more being split up and sold off in sections," Leal told AVN Online. "It's a shame, and we will all have to wait to see what happens."

Belinkie said he takes "full responsibility for some of the choices that I could have made differently."

"I regret also the fact that KSEX was unable to achieve its full potential during these last two years," he said. "The time lost was hard to recover. Nevertheless, I still believe it can be a great company and has a unique place in the industry."

Belinkie said his first eight months at KSEX consisted of being part of a company that went out of business.

"It took time to get control of KSEX and get in the driver's seat," he said. "The next five months were consumed by differences of opinion between Wayne C. Lewis, aka Wankus, and myself, as to how the business should be run."

Lewis was unavailable for comment Tuesday.

Following Lewis' exit from KSEX in May 2007, Joe Brandi was brought on as vice president, with the aid of Program Director Lorrainiac, Brandi's longtime friend. After seven months, Brandi resigned in an on-air phone call during Lorrainiac's show.

"People sometimes have different ideas about the paths a company should take, and I finally arrived at a decision that it just wasn't a good fit," Brandi told AVN Online. "KSEX owner Jon Belinkie and I just had too many issues that we did not agree with, in respects to people and business operations."

Belinkie said he hopes KSEX's doors won't be closed for good.

"It would be a tremendous shame if [that] were to happen," he said. "KSEX is on the edge of a cliff. If it's going to live, someone needs to step up fast."

Sounds like someone has been watching too much CNBC. Sold in units? We're not talking about Citigroup here...this is a defunct internet radio station with no content, no advertisers, and therefore no revenue.

Seriously, what "units" of KSEX are there? The Wanbkus meth-filled couch unit? The archive of Harry Weiss and his stupid "who owes me" broadcasts? The "file cabinet of dead advertising deals" line?

This is the same kind of financial delusions that cause Ric Williams to claim he was the CEO of a Fortune 500 company...he just can't be bothered to tell us which one. Even Skeeter Kerkavoe thinks this is all bullshit.

Now if only Wankus would die from a overdose, baby Jesus could be happy again.

As far as value is considered, KSEX is no differrent than an FCC licensed station that has lost it's license. The value is zero. The only possible saleable asset they have is the KSEX url/domain, and that can't be worth very much.

Did anyone ever get the last Arbitron ratings from KSEX???

I would guess they would be kind of similar to pi. Without that bothersome three in front of the decimal point.
