Pastor Facing Child Pornography Charges
UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio - A pastor was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday after police said he had child pornography on his computer.
Pastor John Adams preached at Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Darbydale. Police said that when he wasn't preaching and working with the 75 parishioners who belong to the church, he had another interest, 10TV's Laura Cole reported.
"We just haven't come across, you know, many pastors that have an interest in child pornography," said an officer who 10TV did not identify.
An Upper Arlington police officer arrested Adams during an Internet investigation.
"We came across an IP address that was involved in child pornography and as a result of that, we investigated further and tracked that IP address back to Mr. Adams," the officer said.
When officers arrived at Adams' home with a search warrant, they found a computer with at least two child pornography movies on it. Police said that may just be the beginning, Cole reported.
"As we were executing the search warrant, he was downloading pornography at the time," the officer said. "From the titles we saw, we believe that it could be child pornography, but the computer has to be analyzed."
Detectives did not say exactly how much child porn Adams had on the computer. The case remained under investigation.
Adams declined 10TV's request for an interview.
