I'm very curious to know which of you may have been propositioned by a member of the same sex, and how exactly you dealt with the situation ( at least those of you who are straight ).
I've had experiences with this in the past, but they were usually very direct. A fellow American tried to pick me up once when I was abroad, and a young man flirted with me quite a bit some years ago, after a night out with mutual friends. But last week I was approached in a much more subtle and abstruse way.
A young man I work with, and whom I knew to have a girlfriend, had been engaging me in increasingly personal conversations about the difficulties of his relationships. But during our last such exchange, he suddenly revealed that he had had homosexual relationships. Initially he gave the impression that these had been consentual, but then later confessed that he'd been raped. He then asked me if I'd ever had any similar experiences, to which I answered "no"... but I then related the above mentioned incidents, and assured him that there was nothing unusual or shameful in what had happened to him. From there he proceeded to relate events in his personal life that revealed both interest in pursuing homosexual relationships, but also a lingering homophobia. It's also worth mentioning that he was a young Latino man who projected an air of robust machismo, and didn't display any of the affectations or mannerisms one normally associates with homosexuals. After reflecting on the course of the conversation that evening, it occured to me that he was, in all probability, testing my reaction in an attempt to gauge my interest.
I wasn't troubled in any way by this exchange, but it did make me wonder how other men may have dealt with similar situations.

I have been hit on a couple times by the gays.

Once when I was working winterizing pools. We knocked on the door to tell the owner we were there and would be getting to work. Obvious effeminate gay dude. 5 minutes later he's outside watching us work and starts chatting me up. I about shit my pants when he asked me about the community college I was going to.

Turns out he has a desk next to the psych professor I had the semester before, and recognized me from one day I dropped something off at her desk. If he remembered me from that fleeting moment, he surely jacked to thoughts of me. He followed me around like a puppy, even when it started raining. Dude I was working with laughed at me, but he wasn't laughing when we got a fat tip. I told him I'd split it 50/50 with him, even though I was the one who earned it.

Another time a gay waiter was flirting with me at IHOP, right in front of my ex. I played along, and played it up to see if I could make her jealous. Not so much, but she did get pissed when we got in the car to leave and I told her, "Ya see. You may be hot, but if you ever leave me, I have options."

At the antique shop I worked for, I made a gay squeal while muscling around some furniture. I spun a wardrobe around, leaned back to get its legs off the ground and put it on the truck. Halfway through, the dude squealed, said "Oh my god, you're an animal." then wouldn't leave me alone for 5-10minutes.

I don't care if gays look, but if they touch, I'd punch em in the throat.

A few times in wife swapping. A simple non- judgemental "not my thing" suffices.

Many times, far more than I've been hit on openly by women. Evidently, I've got a rugged look that the boys enjoy, and they see through my suit and tie nonsense too, in fact, I'm not a big suit guy, but most of the time dudes have hit on me, I've been in a suit at some sort of function.

When it happens, first of all, I'm polite, I know how tough it can be to go up to a chick I find attractive, I can only imagine it's tougher for a gay fella. Imflattered, every single gay man I've met has better style and self awareness than I do, most are better looking than me, and most ive gotten to know have seemed like genuinely better people than I am. Part of me I guess also feels a brief bout of embarrassment, almost subconsciously, probably because of my dopey upbringing.

I think I just try to be honest, let them know I'm flattered but that I'm very straight. I had one dude hook me up with a smoking hot legit NY 9 because of how I reacts to him. Another shared his A+ coke. A couple didn't want to take no for an answer,but chicks do that too.
