I have to be in the MOOD to shop, but when I am, my all time favorite retail outlet for most shit was Saks 5th Avenue (Not the Nord, Not Macy's, Not Eddie Fucking Bauer, not Banana Cream Republic.....)

Notice I typed WAS.....that's due to the fact that Saks' Stock price is tanking in at $3.50 a share, DOWN from this past year's high of 23 bucks a share......

Let me reiterate: WAS $23 NOW $3.50

The store's legendary customary service (they were doing Nordstrom shit before "Nordstrom" meant something other than a Nazi Pep Rally) now resembles date rape when you try to ask for help, check stock or actually return something. And I read somewhere that the company owes close to a BILLION dollars to its creditors....

Saks was one of the bugs in my own personal case of financial crotch itch this past year as people struggle to hold on to what they have. I now secretly hope the company goes under, gets bought at pennies on the dollar by some visionary, perverted rogue Venture Capitlaist/Pimp who reads XPT and hires both myself and Baby g to revitalize the sagging retail market experience by having nude whores throughout the store drawing in a shitload more male clientele, since MEN are the ones with the money anyway....

Looks like I'll be getting my AVN Awards dress at Saks. Thanks for the alert, Burg. Yes, they've always been very servicey there. I loved how they would hold my packages until I was done shopping. I don't mean just shopping at there store, but done shopping at the mall altogether. They also waived tax and shipping costs back in the day before internet if you were visiting and didn't have a Saks in the city you reside.

Dillards is Tanking. Good riddance to that but not my beloved Saks. Please don't say Barneys is next. Or Value Village.

I got around $2500 worth of shit for a bit under $1000 at the one in Biltmore, AZ, this past Saturday. A few Theory shirts, a Varvatos shirt and sweater and two Armani Collezioni shirts being the biggest gets. Never in my life have I seen such reductions at Saks. I was absolutely flabbergasted. The few times I've hit "sales" there, I never end up getting anything because all the mediums and smalls (shirts) have already been scooped up before I get there, or the item in question was only on sale because there were only large sizes left. Plenty of smaller sizes to choose from this time.

I reckon the apocalypse is upon us.

3rd Quarter Sales:

I'm not terribly impressed with the Neiman Marcus in Scottsdale, so I didn't venture in to see what deals they had this past weekend. But I do know Neiman had Saks-like discounts online as of last Thursday.

I have to admit I am a Nordstrom's junkie... never been a fan of the Saks. My wife shops there all the time though.

Locally Macy's is the place to shop though locally. Whole store is basically 60% off. I just upgraded a big chunk of my wardbrode cheap as balls.

Loved B. Altmans but they're out of business now and the Lord & Taylor here is nice. Best store is Barneys, Bloomingdales and Bergdorf in NYC anyway.

Hell I liked browsing through the likes of Kresge's [K-Mart- Sears Holdings Corporation], Woolco, Montgomery Wards & Korvette's .

It should be easy for daBurg to tell if Saks is imploding. Just roll that wheelchair down the aisles and see how easy it is to get around.

When stores get so hard up they can't get suppliers to send them stuff then start removing racks and such from the store rather than let the racks get empty, and to hide missing racks they just move them farther apart.

Every time I've noticed that a store has more open floor space than before that store has disappeared within six months. Extra floor space ought to be easier to notice in a wheelchair than for pedestrians.
