Funny I haven't thought about Tommy Morrison in years.After the success he had in the Rocky movies he was led to believe he could actually box for real and was spoon-fed a bunch of unranked bullshit paper fighters in his run at a title fight.I was compted some tix and a room at the trump for his first fight against an opponent who would offer more than token resistance,Ray Mercer.In the fifth or sixth round Tommy got hit with a right cross left uppercut combination that knocked him unconscious but the ref didn't know it because he was standing behind Ray and Tommy's hand was caught in the ropes so he couldn't fall to the canvas.The brutal asswhipping he received was a total surprise to him but exactly what was bound to happen since unbeknownst to him he had never fought a true competitor up to that point.After the many drinks I had while gambling before the fight and the several I had during the fight my date and I boarded an elevator to go up to our room.The elevator stopped one floor after we got on the doors opened and low and behold a dejected Tommy Morrison and his entourage got on.His face looked like raw hamburger and his trainer was talking about how he got caught with a lucky shot,to put it behind him ,he would be back.It occurred to me that since they had attempted to pump him up by putting him in the ring with sparring partners and calling them fights,that this evenings festivities were bound to happen.We got to my floor and go figure they got off too.As they walked down the hall and I swiped my passkey in the door I thought it only right to tell Tommy,since you didn't fight anybody before stepping into the ring with Ray Mercer,you pretty much had that coming,and stepped in and closed the door.Apparently Tommy wasn't open to any constructive criticism that evening because seconds later there was a tremendous banging noise and a ruckus out in the hall.The door split halfway down Tommy used a 3ft tall brass ashtray as a battering ram until he could be restrained.Donald Trump himself came up and apologized to us and gave me a suite on another floor for the rest of the weekend.What the fuck was wrong with Tommy?
